Excited state properties of lanthanide complexes: Beyond ff states

چکیده

Generally, metal-centered ff states dominate the discussion of the excited state properties of lanthanide complexes. In particular, the luminescence properties of Eu(III) and Tb(III) compounds have been studied in great detail for many decades. However, other types of excited states such as MC fd, MLCT, LMCT, MMCT and IL are also of interest. In this context, we have recently examined the excited state behavior of selected Ce(III), Ce(IV), Eu(II) and Gd(III) complexes which are luminescent and/or photoreactive. 2006 Elsevier B.V. Ultrafast Luminescence Decay in Rhenium(I) Complexes with Imidazo[4,5-f]-1,10-Phenanthroline Ligands: TDDFT Method

The interpretation of the ultrafast luminescence decay in [Re(Br(CO)3(N^N)] complexes as a new group of chromophoric imidazo[4,5-f]-1,10-phenanthroline ligands, including 1,2-dimethoxy benzene, tert-butyl benzene (L4) and 1,2,3-trimethoxy benzene, tert-butyl benzene (L6), was studied. Fac-[Re(Br(CO)3L4 and L6] with different aryl groups were calculated in singlet and triplet excited states. The...

Controlling energy transfer in ytterbium complexes: oxygen dependent lanthanide luminescence and singlet oxygen formation.

Pyrene-appended ytterbium complexes have been prepared using Ugi reactions to vary the chromophore-lanthanide separation. Formation of the ytterbium(iii) excited state is sensitised via both the singlet and triplet excited states of the chromophore. Energy transfer from the latter is relatively slow, and gives rise to oxygen-dependent luminescence.

Luminescent lanthanide-binding peptides: sensitising the excited states of Eu(III) and Tb(III) with a 1,8-naphthalimide-based antenna.

The investigation into the luminescence properties of a lanthanide-binding peptide, derived from the Ca-binding loop of the parvalbumin, and modified by incorporating a 1,8-naphthalimide (Naph) chromophore at the N-terminus is described. Here, the Naph is used as a sensitising antenna, which can be excited at lower energy than classical aromatic amino acids, such as tryptophan (the dodecapeptid...

Microscopic Parameters in the Excited State of Toluene and Some of Its Haloderavatives

The Ultraviolet-visible (UV) spectra of toluene, ortho-bromo and para-bromo toluene in different solvents have been studied. The electric dipole moments and polarizabilities in the molecular excited electronic states were determined. It was found that the electric dipole moments for the excited states (µ*) and the ground states (µ) of these compounds are equal, and the change in dipole moment i...
